The Schapelle Corby Nightmare: Translations |
|
|
What has been done to Schapelle Corby transcends nationality. The shocking abuses of her human rights, the show trial, the brutal political sentence, the complicity from within Australia for political expediency... all good people, wherever they are from and whatever nationality they are, cannot fail to be appalled by this.
However, this is not and cannot be simple observation from the sidelines. Schapelle Corby is a real person, an innocent suffering incredible distress: she needs other real people from across the world to help her. She needs people who research and understand the facts to offer a helping hand, and to support her.
When Tara Hack was interviewed on Australian radio about her Schapelle support song she was asked why an American should care about an Australian. She replied: "I am a human before I am an American". Those are inspiring words, because they spell out that the bond between real people is not broken by lines drawn on maps. They spell out that whoever you are and wherever you come from, you can stand up for her, you can give her the voice she has had so cruelly taken from her, you can hold out the hand of compassion and care, and fight for her.
The international support for Schapelle is already evident in countries across the world. One barrier to spreading the message however has traditionally been language. Almost all the information about Schapelle on the internet is in English: non-English speakers at best will have seen the occasional headline story. They will not be aware of the truth: the brutality, cruelty, abuse and quasi-political backdrop. They won't know the real story.
This section of Schapelle.Net is intended to help address this problem. We will, slowly but surely, be adding dedicated sections in different languages. These will tell the story as clearly as possible, and will include translated videos and even songs. Our objective is to spread the message to, and generate support from, as many nations as possible. It is an ambitious goal, but it is achievable.
The first tranche of non-English language sections is listed below:
French: France
Dutch: The Netherlands / Holland
Espaņol: Spain, Argentina, Chile, Etc
Poland: Polska
